ABOUT THE PARENT-CAREGIVER PARTNERSHIP TOOLKIT
The PARENT-CAREGIVER PARTNERSHIP TOOLKIT is a free-downloadable online resource for collaborative care between parents and caregivers of school-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The purpose of the toolkit is to provide a resource for families who are looking for or who are currently having support from a caregiver to use for developing a successful care team. The toolkit includes the guidelines and tools for the areas associated with care in which the parents and caregivers are involved. Users are free to download, print, and share the elements of the toolkit to create a better parent-caregiver partnership in care for children with ASD.
ABOUT THE DEVELOPER
"Hi! I am Jariya Szalay. I am an occupational therapy student in the Advanced Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (AMOT) program at A. T. Still University, AZ. I have been using my background in occupational therapy to assist with a role as an autism caregiver. By working with multiple parents and other caregivers, I have learned how to share information about the child and the areas of care that are essential to be discussed with them in order to provide optimal care for the child. Through this experience, I have realized that successful caregiving for a child with ASD requires a good partnership of the parents and caregiver. I am fortunate that the AMOT program provided me an opportunity to reflect this valuable experience by implementing the Parent-Caregiver Partnership Toolkit project. I am excited to share the toolkit with every parent and caregiver to use for their everyday care. I hope the toolkit users will find it beneficial for their roles."
